The Spices Board is an Indian government regulatory and export promotion agency for Indian spices. It was constituted in 1987 under the merger of the erstwhile Cardamom Board (1968) and Spices Export Promotion Council (1960) and has the responsibility of production/development of cardamom and export promotion of 52 spices shown in the schedule of the Act. If any person is going to start the spice business of spices, he has to register himself in the spice Board. Generally
Manufacturers and merchants register with the Spice Board (particularly 52 scheduled spices). On completion of registration, the manufacturer or merchant receives a Spice Board Registration Certificate known as CRES (Certificate of Registration as an Exporter of Spices. the Spices Board Act, 1986 states that
“No person shall, after the commencement of this Act, commence or carry on the business of export of any spice under and in accordance with a certificate. Provided that a person is carrying on the business of export of spices immediately before the commencement, and if he has made an application for such certificate within the said period of three months till the disposal of such application.”

Application in the prescribed form (Form-1)
Self-attested copy of IE (import-export) code certificate
Registration fee in the form of crossed Demand Draft favoring “spice board”
Self certified copy of Partnership deed/ Memorandum and Articles of Association as the case may be.
Self certified copies of GST registration certificate.
Self attested certificate issued by directorate of industries in case of manufacturer-exporter of spices.
Self certified copy of PAN card
Passport size photo with white background of CEO or the designated officer of your firm.
There is the list of Spices Board registration fees. Fees are divided into two parts. Fees cost for manufacturers are different and fees for merchants are different.
If you are a manufacturer, you want to register yourself then you have to pay Rs.15,000 /- + GST. If you want to renew the registration, you have to pay Rs. 10,000 /- +GST. For amendments or changes in registration, you should pay Rs. 5,000 + GST.
If you are a merchant, you want to register yourself then you have to pay Rs. 10,000 + GST. For renewal, you will pay Rs. 7,500 + GST. For amendments or changes in registration, you should pay Rs. 5000+ GST.

4. Bank Report in the prescribed format (in bank's letterhead) duly signed and sealed by the Bank
5. Documents regarding the constitution of the firm ie; Partnership deed, Memorandum and Article of Association (MoA & AoA), Certificate of Incorporation (CoI), Certificate issued by Registrar of Co-operative Society etc. & List of present Directors/Partners with contact details.
6. If the applicant is an employee of the company and the particular person is other than the IEC holder, an authorization letter should be obtained from the Director /Partner/Proprietor stating that they have authorized the employee to apply for CRES.

8. Valid FSSAI/Pollution Control Board certificate (Address of processing unit should be mentioned in the FSSAI/ certificate issued by Pollution Control Board)
9. Valid Lease deed/Rent agreement – If the processing unit is rented or leased
